Met a friend for lunch here... had the tamales. So good! Fairly priced. Service was decent but it's a counter service establishment...

We've eaten their authentic foods & ordered our tamale masa for years. This is a genuine Newark institution.

I love eating from here, but I sometimes forget they weren't taking Discover credit cards. Not sure if they accept those yet.

The best place to get fish tacos and shrimp tacos! Absolutely delicious and so much for the price. Sad thing is it's only available on Fridays

THE SOURCE - WHERE TORTILLAS ARE MADE FROM I saw an episode of Check Please Bay Area that featured this grocery store/ deli. Most Mexican eateries have tortillas purchased from vendors. Going to a grocery store that makes tortillas and sells Mexican food is a great match. The first time I came here was on a Saturday morning for breakfast. I ordered the super quesadillas and chilaquiles. I love cheese so I am a sucker for quesadilla. When I ate the quesadilla the queso was gooey yet stretchy. The tortilla was light. I never ate chilaquiles before. Chilaquiles are like nachos due to the fried slices of fried corn tortilla. I've seen pictures of this dish and clips on YouTube. When I got my chilaquiles at this grocery store/ deli I expected the dish to be heavy based upon the pictures I've seen especially with ingredients like refried beans, eggs, and cheese. To my surprise this dish at Mexico Tortilla Factory & Delicatessen was lighter than I expected. I was able to finish this dish without taking it home. I also finished eating the super quesadilla at this deli. I didn't feel bloated after my first visit here. I wanted to come back here the next day, but this deli closes on Sundays. I came back the next Saturday. This time I ordered the enchiladas and regular taco. For the enchiladas the meat I selected was the carnitas and for the regular taco I choose barbacoa. The corn tortillas I've eaten at other Mexican eateries sometimes are stiff and stale, but the corn tortillas at Mexico Tortilla Factory didn't feel rough or taste bland at all. During my second time eating here the meat stood out. The carnitas had that smoky scent yet they were moist. This is the first time I ate moist carnitas at a Mexican eatery because in the past the carnitas at other eateries I've eaten were too dry. The barbacoa was juicy like roast beef. The next time I came here was the following Friday with my relative. This time I ordered three regular tacos. Each taco I ordered three different types of meat: carne asada, barbacoa, and carnitas. The barbacoa taco was still as delicious as I ate the week before. Even though the carnitas taco was tasty I think the carnitas enchiladas were tastier. The carne asada taco was slightly disappointing as the beef was too chewy for me. I think the carne asada might be better in a burrito. This gives me another excuse to come here. During my three visits at Mexico Tortilla Factory & Delicatessen. My favorite items were the carnitas enchiladas and barbacoa taco. On my third visit I enjoyed the pineapple fresca. It wasn't too sweet as the ones I've ordered at county fairs. This drink was refreshing for lunch. Maybe in the future I might buy some grocery items here, but mostly I'll come here to eat.

Their tortillas are delicious! They provide the tortillas for my favorite taco truck, Taqueria Angelica's in San Bruno. I could eat them plain, without any toppings at all. Unfortunately, I haven't found any grocery stores nearby that sell them. I guess I'll just have to stop by the factory the next time I'm in Newark!

This is a little hidden gem for street style tacos. I ordered their carne asada (steak) and grilled chicken tacos. The tacos come with whole pinto beans along with onions and cilantro. I added the pico de Gallo (fresh tomato salsa) and green sauce. The pico was really fresh and the green sauce was very mild. The green salsa has a very small level of spice but was tasty. Each taco is $2.99 plus tax. Also they sell great tortillas! 4.75 overall
